Police Arrest Bomb Threat
Commissioner of Police Everton Jeffers said investigative work — including coordination with local cell phone service providers — led to the swift arrest of a 22-year-old man in connection with a bomb threat at Police Headquarters.
The suspect, a resident of Old Parham Road, was taken into custody around 6:15 Tuesday morning by the Criminal Investigations Department Task Force. He is currently assisting police with investigations into the threat, which was made on April 27th.
In relation to the speed of the arrest, Commissioner Jeffers said officers followed a deliberate investigative process.
“This is as a result of investigation conducted,” he said. “There are several things that sometimes you follow when there is a threat and certain things that you have to do to follow.”
The Commissioner declined to go into detail on investigative methods but confirmed that work with telecommunications providers proved critical.
“I don’t want to say too much, but certain things that you have to follow in order for you to get to where the thing is leading you,” he said, adding that follow-ups with various cell phone providers allowed police to make headway in the matter.
The police administration said all threats to public safety are taken seriously, and investigations into the matter continue.
