Police Remind – The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda has issued a reminder that the sale of alcohol is strictly prohibited this Good Friday, April 3, 2026.

The restriction is in accordance with the Licensing (Intoxicating Liquor) (Amendment) Act, No. 9 of 2014. Under the provisions of the Act:
“Any licensed premises where intoxicating liquor is sold, exposed, or kept for retail sale, except those operating under a hotel licence, tavern licence, or club licence, must remain closed to the public for the entire day.”
To ensure compliance, the police clarified that no alcohol is to be sold from midnight on Thursday, April 2, through the entirety of Good Friday.
The Police Administration issued a direct warning to establishment owners regarding the consequences of non-compliance:
“The Police Administration is urging all owners and operators of establishments that falls with this restriction to comply fully with the law. Failure to adhere may result in the revocation of licences and other legal actions in accordance with the laws of Antigua and Barbuda.”
The administration added that the full cooperation of the general public is “expected and appreciated.”
