Radio Range woman charged in alleged hit and run

The woman who struck a child on Popeshead Street on Friday, then left the scene, is due in court today (Tuesday) charged with the offence.

Karen Francis, 46, of Radio Range, has been charged with dangerous driving and failing to report a traffic accident.

She allegedly struck the 7-year-old boy with her Silver Kia Rio while he was crossing the road with his friend.

The Villa Primary School student sustained a broken leg and is still in hospital.

Antigua News Room has seen footage of the accident which shows that when the vehicle in question struck the boy.

The drive stopped checked on him, but was later seen leaving the accident.

The Daily Observer reported on Monday “the driver may not be charged” based on a report from confidential police sources.
