Red Force Rallies Comfortable

The Leeward Islands Hurricanes were bowled out for a paltry 98 on day three of their Regional four day clash with Trinidad and Tobago Red Force to lose by an innings and 271 runs at the Coolidge Cricket Ground (CCG) on Tuesday.

Justin Greaves scored more than half of the Hurricanes’ tally, batting not out for 56 off 128 deliveries. Only one other batter, Daniel Doram, reached double figures with 16 from 58 balls. Khary Pierre was the pick of the bowlers for Red Force, bagging four wickets for 37 runs in 20 overs. Pierre’s spell included eight maidens. There were two wickets each for Bryan Charles (2/15) and Anderson Phillip (2/18).

Earlier, Red Force amassed a massive 507 for five declared to put the host under pressure. Amir Jangoo was in fine form with the bat, slamming 16 fours and five maximums on his way to 203 not out from 287 deliveries.

Terrance Hinds also got a century, hitting exactly 100 not out from 195 balls. He slammed five fours and five sixes. Joshua Da Silva contributed with 62 from 116 balls with eight fours while Evin Lewis chipped in with 42 from 146 balls.

Oshane Thomas led the bowling for the home team, bagging three wickets for 98 runs in 21 overs.

In their first innings, Hurricanes were removed for 138 in just 14 overs. Jahmar Hamilton hit a top score of 44 and Jewel Andrew added 27. There were three wickets each for Charles and Pierre bowling for the victors. Charles picked up three for nine and Pierre bagged three for 34.

The second of the three-match series starts on Sunday at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.
