Toyota Recalls – By Kisean Joseph
Toyota Recalls Over 000
Antigua and Barbuda’s Toyota dealership has confirmed that it has not yet received any official communication regarding a major safety recall affecting more than 13,000 Hilux pickup trucks due to an electric power steering fault.
The problem stems from a misplaced ground terminal during accessory installation — not a factory defect — which can trigger a complete failure of the electric power steering system. Toyota says there are no dashboard warnings before the failure occurs, leaving drivers with a vehicle that becomes significantly harder to steer and raises the risk of a serious crash or death.
The affected units were built between August 2025 and February this year, spanning Workmate, SR, SR5, Rogue, and Rugged X grades across both four-by-two and four-by-four variants. The recall applies to vehicles fitted with a Toyota Genuine bull bar, nudge bar, or light bar.
Owners of affected models are urged to contact their nearest Toyota dealer for further information.
