A woman has reported the loss of a high-end smartphone valued at about EC$1,800, which she believes fell from her bag during a late-night outing.
Several days later, she was contacted via a messaging app by an unknown individual who allegedly demanded payment in exchange for returning the device. Police say they have advised the complainant and are continuing investigations into the suspected theft and attempted extortion.
