The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda (RPFAB) worked alongside the visiting officers who shared their knowledge and experience in the management of major events as part of ongoing preparations for the CHOGM.
The Jamaican team included Assistant Commissioner of Police Garry McKenzie, Senior Superintendent of Police Adrian Hamilton, Superintendent Shaunjaye Mitchell and Deputy Superintendent Garnet Stapleton.
The officers held discussions and working sessions with senior members of the local force, focusing on security planning and operational readiness for the summit.
They also toured the island and helped assess venues earmarked to host official meetings and other events during CHOGM.
“Their visit provided a valuable opportunity for both law enforcement agencies to exchange experiences, examine security considerations, and strengthen planning arrangements for what will be one of the largest and most significant international events to be hosted by Antigua and Barbuda,” a press release from Stratcom said.
Commissioner of Police Everton Jeffers thanked the visiting team and the leadership of the Jamaica Constabulary Force for their support, partnership and contribution to the country’s CHOGM security preparations.
“I am pleased to have members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force coming on board and sharing their expertise in security planning, knowing that they are highly qualified and possess many years of experience in the field of security and the planning of major events,” Commissioner Jeffers said.
He said working with regional and international security partners remains an important part of the country’s overall security preparations for CHOGM.
Jeffers added that the knowledge shared during the visit will support the continued work of the RPFAB and other national security and emergency response agencies involved in preparing for the meeting.
The JCF delegation left Antigua on Saturday, August 15.
